– Leadership seminar, workshop, spillkveld and band visits

South participants Gift, Andrew, Mxolisi and Phenyo are feeling refreshed and super ready for the new year.

Hello everyone. Here is a little update on how what the first few weeks back at the office has been like for the participants in South Africa and Norway.

Last week us north participants had our first week back in the office after a refreshing festive season, and we spent that week planning the first big bang of this year: Leadership seminar for the leadership in the field staff.

The seminar was hosted this week in our Head Office in Sandton, and we had a very interesting seminar filled with good content for our leadership. Some of the things we looked at was marketing plans for recruitment, revamping of established education programs for Education and PULSE, some educational sessions on internal structures, and many more interesting topics.

We always start our days off with a good breakfast for leadership seminar.

The leadership in the bands consist of three roles for each band. There’s the PO, project officer. They oversee the project and see to it that everything runs smoothly. Then there’s the BCs, band coordinator. Their main responsibility is the musical side of things, and they are also mainly in charge of leading the bands musically. Lastly, we have our SOs, social officers. They oversee the welfare of the members in the bands. If someone needs a bit of extra attention or assistance, they are the ones to ask. They are also in charge of teaching life skills in the bands.

Franqo and Rose saw the office tortoise this week. They were very excited, as it only appears every few months. Curiously, often in the same spot.

Marita and Siri have been absent this week, as they are on holiday in Uganda and Rwanda. Both felt sad about missing out on the seminar, but they are having a great time exploring the African continent and drinking amazing coffee.

Next week we are kicking off our first workshop of the year, our social officer workshop. We are really looking forward to some quality time with the SOs, and hopefully they will finish the week feeling empowered and upskilled for the year to come.

On the Norwegian side the South Participants are also keeping busy. Phenyo writes:

Exciting times ahead! Our team has been diligently planning and preparing for several major projects kicking off this month and next month. Stay tuned for updates on:

  • Hell Conference
  • NM Brass
  • EM Brass
  • The Soundlab Project

We’ve had a busy start with band visits and spillkveld events. The coming weeks and months promise to deliver engaging and high-quality content. Follow us for the latest news and behind-the-scenes insights.

Until next time. Salani kahle!
